At the same time, smartphones, social media and artificial intelligence are rapidly changing how people search for answers about their health.

The challenge is that more information does not always mean better or more trustworthy guidance.

Sekama is developing a Digital Health Intelligence Platform to help bridge this gap. Starting in Uganda, the platform will create a trusted digital pathway connecting people to reliable health knowledge, responsible use of artificial intelligence and professional health expertise.

Through a mobile-first platform, users will be able to ask health-related questions and receive information supported by trusted knowledge sources, with human review where appropriate. The goal is not to replace doctors or other health professionals, but to help people access better information, understand when professional care may be needed, and make more informed decisions about their next step.

The platform is being designed with privacy, consent, identity and responsible use of health information at its foundation. It will also consider the realities of communities where connectivity, specialist access and healthcare resources may be limited.

Sekama is working with Canadian universities, technology specialists and African partners to co-develop and test different components of the platform.

Our vision is simple: wherever someone lives, access to trustworthy health information should help them make a better-informed decision about what to do next.

Connecting People to Trusted Health Information and Expertise Every health question has a person behind it, trying to decide what to do next.
