At Sekama, we believe farming should be rewarding—not just in harvests, but in dignity, opportunity, and connection. Sekama began with a simple but powerful idea: to link Canadian knowledge and innovation with grassroots efforts in Africa. Our Founding Executive Director, Meddie Mayanja, started this work not to build a job for himself, but to build a bridge. A bridge that connects farmers to the tools, ideas, and partnerships they need to thrive.

Sekama was incorporated in 2023 as a Canadian social enterprise by like-minded professionals from across the world, who share a commitment to stronger collaboration between the Global North and the Global South. We believe that when knowledge flows both ways, everyone benefits.
